KING COUNTY HAS PASSED THE EASTSIDE RAIL CORRIDOR TRAIL MASTER PLAN

The original rail line runs 42 miles from Snohomish County to Renton and would become a great asset to the Eastside area, as explained in the featured article from Bellevue Reporter Ryan Murray.

The cost of the project is estimated at $13.2 million and to be completed by 2020. The county will add 16.7 miles on to the existing 42 original trail miles to create the corridor and King County Council member Claudia Balducci commented on the project stating, “I am excited to approve the Trail Master Plan so we can finally roll up our sleeves and get to work on creating one of the most unique corridors in the country,” said Balducci, the Chair of the Eastside Rail Corridor’s Regional Advisory Committee. “We will be connecting thousands of residents up and down the Eastside to transit, trail, recreation and economic development opportunities.”

The goal of the project is to create a multi-use vision that will not only serve as a recreational purpose but for economic development and educational opportunities like the Global Innovation Exchange and REI's corporate headquarters.
